Masters Spring Outing 2017

Big turnout for first event of 2017 season

A sunny spring day greeted members as they assembled at the new temporary Links complex for the annual spring outing that heralds the start of the new golfing season. A closely fought contest saw Captain Campbell’s team narrowly defeat Vice Captain Simpson’s set of hackers by 3 and a half matches to 2 and a half. If we ignore the number of holes up, (22 to 9) then it was extremely close! On the day, Secretary Coutie deputised for Capt. Campbell who was suffering from a bout of old-age. Winner of the strokeplay competition and recipient of the prestigious Yellow Jecket, was the young(ish) David Morton (again!). Runner-up was fomer Club pro Steve Logan, with Darren Halley in third place. After the match, competitors retired to the Station Hotel for a lovely meal followed by the traditional prize-giving. Apart from Coutie going on and on about what a great stand-in captain he was, everyone had a most enjoyable day out.
