Record turn-out for annual Christmas Scramble
The final outing of 2017, the Station Masters GC annual Christmas texas scramble, attracted a record entry of 10 teams over the Buddon last Wednesday where a lovely sunny, but slightly chilly day greeted the eclectic mix of competitors to the famous Links. A very closely contested tournament saw the extremely popular team of Captain Simpson, Secretary Coutie, former Pro Steve Logan and the venerable John Jeans claim the coveted top-spot with a score of 55.1. Runners-up on the day with a creditable 57.2 were the proficient Martin Connor and his team comprising Kenny Stark, Graham Byars and John Miller. All competitors headed back to HQ after the match for the traditional fare of peh, chips and beans courtesy of mine-host Andy Mackenzie. The post-lunch games-day provided the customary competitive entertainment with all the usual suspects adding to the organiser’s stress! Winners eventually were unbelievably Craig Saunders and Neil Holland (darts), Pete Coutie and Brian Smith (bones) and Graham Byars and John Miller (pool). Thanks to the lovely Marnie for presenting the prizes. A great day out and only 3 months till the start of a very busy season!
