George Doherty picks up coveted Yellow Jecket
You won’t believe this …. we forgot to post this article when the Masters Spring Outing actually took place on April 1st! To be more accurate, I forgot – only a month late tho. And before you all start … it’s not an April Fool, George really did win! Anyway – a smaller than normal contingent turned up for the first outing of the new season, which was great because there wasn’t the usual moaning from those drawn to play in the final two or three groups. The excellent sunny weather produced a closely-fought contest with Nor Reid (AKA Tracker Man) coming a close 3rd and newcomer Craig Oliphant runner-up to the fantastic (on-the-day) Och George. After the golf it was back to HQ for the usual meal, courtesy of the Station Hotel followed by one or two soft drinks and the prize-giving. Other winners on the day were Dani Van Wyck – longest drive, Sec. Coutie – Nearest the Pin and Country Member, Bobby Brown – bringing up the rear! Oh yes, just remembered Stan Shepherd (AKA The Village Idiot) received a special prize of an Easter Bunny chocolate egg cos it was his birthday. A good day had by all – and apologies if we have the prize winners wrong. It was so long ago that no-one can remember who won what! Check-out more photos on Latest News in Pictures.
