Sun shines on Autumn Outing

Autumn Outing signals end of busy season for Club

Brilliant sunshine greeted the competitors in our final outing of this season over the Buddon course. Once again, the Captain’s team managed by Sec Coutie, emerged victorious over Capt. Simpson’s Vice Captains team, in what turned out to be a ‘whitewash’ by 6 matches to nil. Individual winner on the day and recipient of the ‘Prestigious Yellow Jecket’ was George Anderson who travelled down from his base at Kintore specially for the event. Runner-up was the sprightly Alan Clark. The match was followed by a lovely meal and one or two ‘refreshments’ at the Station Hotel. This season has seen a busy time for many of our members when over twenty volunteers worked in shifts to marshal the Practice Ground grandstand, widely acknowledged (by Hole Controller Muir and his Assistant Controller Simpson) to be the best organised and most efficient team on the course that week. Our Club Championships were obviously disrupted by the Championship preparations etc but our competitors managed to work their ties round this, so thanks to everyone for being so accommodating. Current Club Champion Sandy Norrie brilliantly retained the Arthur Christieson Trophy after fighting his way to the final and former Handicap Champion Dave Meek overcame Rik Fulton to win the Dave McNicoll Cup once again.

*Further report on all competitions and winners to follow shortly
